How we sell our clothes...
Hanger sell clothing from high-end New Zealand designers with labels like Trelise Cooper, Andrea Moore, Charade and Cue to name a few (for more fashion labels see below). There is also a strong international influence with clothing from the USA, Europe and Australia.
All the garments are sold at a fraction of the new price, on behalf of the owners with GST and admin charges added. Check out our Terms and Conditions listed below.
Free Appraisals and Guidelines
For people wishing to sell clothing at Hanger - you should know that Hanger will happily appraise your clothing free of charge. By doing so, she is under no obligation to accept them into stock.
Stock Appraisal is entirely up to the discretion of the proprietor, but as a general guideline the following applies:
- Your clothing should be in excellent condition (no marks, spots or stains, torn fabric or missing buttons)
- Ideally the clothing should be from a top designer label, although good quality clothing from top brand manufacturers will also be considered.
- New or near new clothing of lesser brand manufacturers will not be considered.
Things you won't find at Hanger
As a matter of policy and privacy, Hanger will never reveal the identity of the owner selling a garment. Therefore, you will never find any 'celebrity' mark-ups on any garments.
Also, Hanger is not in the business of estate clearances - while sympathetic to your loss, we will not accept wardrobes of clothes that used to belong to the deceased.

Terms and conditions
- Hanger sells goods on behalf of the owners.
- What we chose to sell is completely at our discretion and we are under no obligation or duty to purchase goods for any reason.
For Sellers
- Garments can be dropped off to Hanger any day we are open however they cannot be processed if Marita is unavailable. Feel free to include your own inventory if we are unable to process them immediately.
- Garments must be freshly laundered, in perfect condition and ready for sale. Hanger does not offer dry-cleaning or laundering.
- Please stipulate if you have a price in mind or if prices are non-negotiable, otherwise your garments will be priced at our discretion. GST and admin/advertising costs to the value of 20% of the sale price will be added.
- Goods must be collected a maximum of three months from date received or terms renegotiated or they will be donated to charity. Hanger will ring you near to the end of the term with an update or if all garments sell. Payment for garments sold will be issued by cheque at any time you require or at the end of the term. Money owing to you may be used as credit when purchasing in Hanger.
- Garments older than 3 years will not be accepted however vintage/retro and classic style garments will be considered. A free appraisal for any garments is offered
- You can withdraw your clothes from the shop at anytime, but you must get a staff member to adjust our stock records accordingly. This excludes any items that may be on lay-by.
- Clothes are accepted as stock on the basis that the owner accepts all risk of loss or damage (including shoplifting) whilst their clothes are in store. Hanger will exercise reasonable care, while your clothes are with us.
For Buyers- Customers have all the usual rights guaranteed under the Fair Trading Act and the Consumer Guarantees Act.
- Lay-by: Goods sold on lay-by require a 40% deposit and full payment within one month. Garments not paid for will be donated a month after that term lapses, unless prior arrangements have been made.
